JUDO

The word "Judo" literally means gentle way and is primarily a throwing style of martial art. The basic goal of a judoka is to take an opponent down by using their energy against them. From there, a judo practitioner will either gain a superior position on the ground or subdue an aggressor by employing a submission hold.

Judo is closely related to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) as most of the techniques are the same between styles. The main difference is that focus of BJJ is grappling on the ground while most Judo training focus on ways to get your opponent to the ground. In our gym, judo is offered as part of our BJJ membership. As in all areas, we want our students to be well rounded, so we encourage our members to take both judo and BJJ to round out their grappling skills.

Dan Morgan is the head judo instructor.  He is a black belt in Judo (Sandan) and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
